It’s November and I found myself getting out the “Tim blankets” I had stored for the winter: one maroon Eddie Bauer blanket from Tim and an identical one in James Taylor’s “deep greens and blues” given to us by Seana in Tim’s memory. My brother loved these blankets and — like anything he loved — he enjoyed sharing them. So once again Tim’s generosity is a gift that keeps giving.
“Surrending to the Bauer” is what he called that moment most Americans have every evening, that time when we give up every form of striving and settle into our favorite chair or couch. Most frequently we are consuming our chosen form of media, but that’s not even necessary. The only requirement is to relax. Under the spell of the perfect blanket, the surrendering takes place almost instantaneously.
We, Tim’s community, are so lucky to have the warmth, the warmth, the warmth.
